THE CHRIST

Sue O'Donnell. 21.01.21

“Your eyes will see the King in all His splendour and you will see a land that stretches into the distance.” (Isaiah 33 v 17 NLT)

The Lord Jesus, the Christ, is ever with us,

Before us, in us, amongst us.

He comes out of love’s kindness.

He is born according to God’s promise.

Jesus is made ours to claim and possess holiness,

All of this out of God’s goodness,

The wholeness of His merciful heart.

Our Father is ever generous.

He gives of Himself in His Son.

He gives of the Son in the Spirit who is holy.

This Spirit of holiness has tremendous influence.

He guides us to our Brother’s friendship,

The Holy Spirit as Paraclete and Advocate stands with us.

The Son and the Spirit save and sanctify us.

Jesus alive in us, results in holiness.

This delights and honours our Father,

Who wants His world to be full of love.

“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us...Let us not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1 John 4 v 16, 18 NLT)

Holy love results in Christian service,

Calling on the power of the name in Christ Jesus.

This service is based on prayer daily.

Such service is shaped self-givingly, willingly,

For we look to emulate the Lord Jesus.

We see the King in His beauty through servant hearted duty.

Love is put into action for love is life’s currency.

We see and hear the Father’s will in the Son.

This is attested for us by the Holy Spirit.

We are invited into this venerable community.

Christ Jesus is the point of access, our entry.

We have to emulate Him to dedicate to the almighty.

We have to do this by being receptive to the Spirit who is holy.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, a Trinity.

We proclaim the greatness, splendour and power.

Our hope for the kingdom of heaven upon earth rests with us in Jesus.

Us in Him, He in us, by the Spirit of holiness.

“This is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing His glory.” (Colossians 1 v 27 NLT)

“You died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory.” (Colossians 3 v 4 NLT)

Let us pray in anticipation of this, giving all the glory to God, through His Son, by His Spirit.

Let us pray because “Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead.” (Colossians 1 v 19 NLT)

Let us pray because “He is first in everything. For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to Himself.” (Colossians 1 v 18, 19 NLT)

Let us pray for “He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood of the †.” (v 20)

Let us pray because our Saviour Brother “Humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” (Philippians 2 v 8 NLT)

“Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honour and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow...” (v 9, 10)

Jesus, the Christ, the living, abiding Word of God, here amongst us by the Holy Spirit, He is our means of worship. Therefore let us pray with rejoicing in the Christ. Amen.
